my name is Brian Burton, i was a ACC cook and was att to 125 comp RASC ( bridge ) from march 57 to august 1958 being one of the last national service to leave, all the cooks were in block 5 and most of the drivers were in block 6,i still have a couple of photos of inside the cookhouse the WRVS and the storage area with the trucks and pontoons.

Hi Jerry.. Remember the name.- I was in 40 Sqn from 66( World Cup year) to 70.. Building 18 on your plan was actually that Motor Cycle bays… The troop offices were actually in block 15
I’m Jonny Jones, I served in Binden Barracks from 1963 to the end of 65, with 35 coy RASC. I was in B troop. The staff-sgt was Paddy McDonald, also cpl Jerry Day, Driver’s: Dave letchford, jock Sinclair’s, Brummy Williams, Jonny showler,, twitch Waldron. Anna served in the Naafi bar.
There were many laughs had during the time bridging, Lite bridging, Heavy Girder and the heavy ferry. I always tried to get the safety boat(cussy job).
Cpl malony’s brother was Sgt-major 10coy.
35 coy got a new OC from a staff car coy and he thought we could keep our 10 tonner’s in the same gleaming state. This culminated in sit-in in the Naafi by both coy’s. Caused quite a hu-hah.

Building 6 was 10 Coy acct. I was C Pln 10 Coy RASC from Jul 62 through to Dec 65 on posting to 69 Sqn RCT (Air Despatch) Singapore.Hameln as a first posting was superb, and the Bridging Trade
was a brilliant start to my ‘Adult’ life after Boys Service!! Happy days all round!!

I served in 40 squadron from 68 to 72 and I can correct some of the camp plan building uses if you are interested?

Thanks for these photos. I was 10 Coy RASC Chief Clerk in 1962, based in Building 6. I saw the last of the National Servicemen leave. A great bunch of lads. I left Hameln in June 1963 for a 2 year tour of Bahrain.
