The liaison officers had the important task of maintaining and improving the understanding between the British troops and the German population. They served as points of contact for concerns, complaints, and a variety of other matters. During the years I worked with the Press Office, I had exclusively positive experiences. The liaison officers were always courteous, friendly, and answered all questions thoroughly.
Reports from other sources confirm this impression: all accounts praise the professionalism and accommodating nature of the liaison officers. Many stated that they enjoyed their time in Hameln and regretted having to leave the town due to transfers or other reasons

Die Verbindungsoffiziere hatten die wichtige Aufgabe, das Verständnis zwischen den britischen Truppen und der deutschen Bevölkerung zu fördern und aufrechtzuerhalten. Sie fungierten als zentrale Anlaufstelle für beide Seiten und waren Ansprechpartner für Anliegen, Beschwerden und viele weitere Themen. Während meiner Tätigkeit mit dem Press Office habe ich ausschließlich positive Erfahrungen mit den Verbindungsoffizieren gemacht. Sie begegneten mir stets höflich, freundlich und beantworteten alle Fragen umfassend.
Auch Rückmeldungen aus anderen Quellen bestätigen dieses Bild: Alle Berichte über die Verbindungsoffiziere heben ihre professionelle und entgegenkommende Art hervor. Viele gaben an, dass sie gerne in Hameln tätig waren und bedauerten es, die Stadt aufgrund von Versetzungen oder anderen Gründen verlassen zu müssen
