Nach der letzten Freedom of the City – Parade in der Stadt Hameln sind wir dann in die GORDON BARRACKS um den letzten Fahnenappell zu sehen! Dort fand die endgültige Auflösungsparade mit Einholen der Flagge statt! Vor der Offiziersmesse auf dem großen Exerzierplatz standen drei große Zelte die von M3 Fähren gesäumt wurden! Als erstes marschierten die sogenannten Markers auf den Platz! Sie bleiben an vordefinierten Plätzen stehen und zeigen damit Punkte an, die von den einmarschierenden Truppen als Orientierungspunkte genutzt werden!
“28 ENGR, GET ON, PARADE!” hallte es durch die Kaserne an der Süntelstraße in Hameln. Angeführt von „The Band of the Corps of Royal Engineers“ brachte Lt.Col. Chaz Story, der letzte CO, das 28 Royal Engineer Regiment auf den Paradeplatz! Chief Royal Engineer, Lieutenant-General Sir Mark Francis Noel Mans inspizierte das Regiment und sprach mit einigen Soldaten! Nach der Inspektion wurde die Flagge des 28 Engineer Regiments ein letztes Mal auf dem Gelände der Gordon Barracks eingeholt! Mit den Worten: “Sir, 28 ENGR REGT will now disband. May I present you with the regimental flag for safekeeping and have your permission to march 28 Engr Regt off parade for the final time Sir, please!” bat Lt.Col. Chaz Story den Chief Royal Engineer, Lieutenant-General Sir Mark Francis Noel Mans die Fahne des Regiments sicher zu verwahren und ebenso das Regiment ein letztes Mal vom Exerzierplatz der Gordon Barracks zu führen! Die letzten Tritte der Engineers verhallten und der Piper David Moir spielte sein Instrument vom Uhrenturm oberhalb des Regiment Headquarter! Wahrlich ein trauriger Moment der die Emotionen bei eine gen doch sehr aufwühlte!

After the last Freedom of the City – Parade in the city of Hameln, we are then seen in the GORDON BARRACKS to the last roll call! There, the final resolution Parade took place with lowering the flag! Prior to the officers’ mess on the large parade ground were three large tents were lined with M3 Rigs! First marched the marker on the square! Stay at predefined places are and thus show points that are used by the invading troops as orientation points! “28 ENGR, GET ON PARADE!” it echoed through the barracks at the Süntelstraße in Hameln. Led by “The Band of the Corps of Royal Engineers” did Lt.Col. Chaz story, the last CO, the 28 Royal Engineer Regiment on the parade ground! Chief Royal Engineer, Lieutenant-General Sir Mark Francis Noel Mans inspected the regiment and spoke with some soldiers! After the inspection, the flag of the 28 Engineer Regiment has been obtained for the last time on the grounds of the Gordon Barracks! With the words: “Sir, 28 ENGR REGT will now disband. May I present you with the regimental flag for safekeeping and have your permission to march 28 Engr Regt off parade for the final time, Sir, please.” asked Lt.Col. Chaz story the Chief Royal Engineer, Lieutenant-General Sir Mark Francis Noel Mans sure to keep the flag of the regiment, and also to lead the regiment for the last time from the parade ground of the Gordon Barracks! The last kicks of Engineers faded and the Piper David Moir played his instrument from the clock tower above the Regimental Headqurters! Truly a sad moment but the very stirred up emotions in some!
