1963 – 1964 The Plinkesche gravel pit near Breslauer Allee caused some trouble in the 1960s. Unauthorized debris and rubbish heaps piled up and something had to happen. The haulage contractor Wilhelm Schmale was in favor at the time to restore this area to a respectable condition. In collaboration with Regierungsassesor a.D. Tönebön and the city of Hameln should be changed a lot here. But how to do that? Fortunately, in Hameln are Royal Engineers based. One unit commanded by Corporal David Heyes moved nearly 30,000 cbm of ground and many rubbish. The result is a traffic training area, which was then called the “traffic garden” and in the further planning is to create a campsite with 400 parking spaces. Which Squadron this was, I could not get any more information about it yet..

The area in question was the streets Kreuzfeld, Breslauer Allee and Breiter Weg.

In Zusammenarbeit mit Regierungsassesor a.D.
