1961 – 1st Bn The Middlesex Regiment – “B”-Coy

It is christmas time and some things around my website turned in mystic happenings. In May 2015 I visited the town of Herford with my lovely wife during the “FAREWELL WEEK” of British Forces. We spent a Sunday afternoon at the “Old Market” in the middle of the town. There I meet Ray Shave. A former soldier of he Middlesex Regiment. Never thought I will meet some of this Infantry Regiment. But it was great to spoke to Ray. I wrote a report about the interview with Ray. Some weeks ago I received an email from Brian Hedges. He read the report about Ray and he remember him very well. Because Ray and Brian were best friends during their time here in hamelin. But they lost contact and Brian asked if it is possible to sent him contact details about Ray. Sure I will try and will ask, if Ray remember you also and if he allow to forward his email dress to you. That was my answer to Ray. What should I say…. Ray remembered Brian and he was very happy to hear about Brian. I forwarded his email adress and Brain was happy, too. A few days later, Brian sent another email and he wrote, Ray and Brian telephoned more than 5!!! hours. I’m very happy to read this and some tears rolled out of my eyes. It is so great to read, these two friends find together after 55 years over my website! A few days later a letter arrived, full packed with some photos of Brian’s time here in Hamelin. You will see them soon as possible. Today I will show the 1st one. It is a group photo of “B”-Coy 1st Bn The Middlesex Regiment. Thank you so much, Brian!

How many soldiers have stood on this stair for a group portrait?

Once a Die Hard, always a Die Hard.
