1st Reunion after closing the Gates – Boattrip on the Weser!

A year has passed, and the gates of the barracks in Hameln are closed, as are the vehicle parks. Nevertheless, they all return! Hameln remains the location for the Royal Engineers. It was an honour for me to be on the excursion boat today and to take some photos, including a group picture after the boat trip. With splendid weather and good cheer, we spent over two hours on the “Flotte Weser,” cruising along the Weser River, passing by Wouldham Camp and the old ferry point in Ohr, which served as a training ground for decades and is well-known to all. Between Hagenohsen and Ohr, the excursion boat turned around and headed back to Hameln. Everyone gathered for the group photo, and then, as expected, we made our way to the headquarters known as “The Bathtub”

Ein Jahr ist vergangen, und die Tore der Kasernen in Hameln sind geschlossen, ebenso die Fahrzeugparks. Doch dennoch kommen sie alle zurück! Hameln bleibt der Standort der Royal Engineers. Es war mir eine Ehre, heute auf dem Ausflugsdampfer dabei zu sein und einige Fotos sowie ein Gruppenbild nach der Dampferfahrt zu machen. Bei bestem Wetter und guter Stimmung fuhren wir über zwei Stunden mit der „Flotten Weser“ die Weser entlang, vorbei am Wouldham Camp und der alten Fährstelle in Ohr, die über Jahrzehnte als Übungsplatz diente und jedem bekannt ist. Zwischen Hagenohsen und Ohr wendete der Dampfer und kehrte nach Hameln zurück. Alle stellten sich für das Gruppenfoto auf, und danach ging es, wie könnte es anders sein, in das Hauptquartier „Die Badewanne“.
