Football Shirt of the SV Hajen e.V. by Bill Smith
Many British soldiers lived in private accommodation during their service and were actively involved in sports clubs in Hameln and the surrounding area. Bill Smith sent a special souvenir from his time in Hameln – his “old” SV Hajen e.V. jersey. He photographed it and sent me the picture. This definitely deserves a mention, as it shows how much the British soldiers felt at home here.

Viele britische Soldaten lebten während ihrer Dienstzeit in privaten Unterkünften und engagierten sich aktiv in den Sportvereinen in Hameln und Umgebung. Bill Smith sendete noch ein besonderes Erinnerungsstück aus seiner Zeit in Hameln – sein „altes“ Trikot des SV Hajen e.V. Er fotografierte es und schickte mir das Bild. Dies verdient auf jeden Fall eine Erwähnung, da es zeigt, wie sehr sich die britischen Soldaten hier heimisch fühlten.
