March 1996, the 28 Engineer Regiment went on a exercise that would be the last Exercise with M2 Rigs!

Luckily my friend Eckhard Uhde was there on this beautiful sunny but very cold March day and was able to hold this action in pictures!

With this exercise was also a battery of the 12th Regiment Royal Artillery, at that time stationed in the Dempsey Barracks Paderborn! Other parts of this regiment at that time were deployed to Cyprus for an UN peacekeeper mission! The HVM Sormer vehicle were fairly new at the time with the troops and they secured the river crossings against enemy air attacks!

Furthermore, some other troops form Paderborn and Sennelager were ferried.

Many old vehicles like the first version of a FV432 and a Land Rover LR 109 we’ve seen on this Exercise! Eckhard told me! Also he said, if he had known that these maneuvers scenarios would soon come to an end, he had photographed at least some more photos!

So far, the name of this maneuver was not known and was always under “Last Action M2 Bridge”! But through research and some very valuable documents in which I had access, I was finally able to now assign a name for this exercise! NEPTUNE’S VISION, perhaps a name that was program?
